Why do you need a training plan specific to Casco Bay Swimrun?

Casco Bay Swimrun is a race with many specificities, and it is important to consider all the details of the race during the training if you want to perform at your best on race day.

With 33.5 km of running and 7.5 km of swimming, Casco Bay is challenging. The distinctive features are:

  • The swim sections are quite long (most of them are 500 to 1000 m)
  • A ≈10 km run takes place late in the race.
  • Some runs are technical, especially on the shoreline.

Throughout this 8-week swimrun training plan, I give you advice and tips to perform at your best on the course of Casco Bay. I want you to feel that you know the course and all its tricks.

All the swimming, running and swimrun sessions included in this training plan are based on the race distances. Be prepared for some swim sessions with strength and endurance training and some open water swimming.
