This training plan is made specifically for ÖtillÖ Scilly, and will get you ready for your challenge through a detailed 8-week program designed by a podium swimrunner and coach.
What can you expect from your training plan?
During this 8-week training, you will progressively build the endurance and strength you need for this race. You will also get knowledge about the race and confidence in your ability to deliver your best performance on race day. The weekly amount of training time is between 5.5 and 9 hours.
The program starts with a testing week, during which you will set the pace for the rest of your training. This swimrun training plan can be followed by athletes of any level. You will only have to adapt all the sessions to your level.
All the training sessions of this swimrun training plan are accurately detailed and explained. The plan is following a progression leading to the top form on race day.

What is so special about ÖtillÖ Scilly that you need to follow a specific training plan?
With 28.9 km of running and 8.3 km of swimming, ÖTILLÖ Scilly is extremely challenging. The distinctive features are:
- The swims are long and tough. Two of them are 2500 m and the water is relatively cold (≈12°C).
- The running sections are not technical but there are some undulations on some islands and also some sections in deep sand.
- There are lots of long seaweed on some swimming sections. It makes the swims quite complicated and navigation skills extremely important.
Throughout this 12-week swimrun training, I will give you advice and tips to perform at your best on the course of ÖtillÖ Scilly. I want you to feel that you know the course and all its tricks.
All the swimming, running and swimrun sessions included in this training plan are based on the ÖTILLÖ Scilly distances and specifics. Be prepared for some long swim sessions and some open water technique sessions.
