THE SPIRIT
This is a battle. Make no mistake. We want you to find that fighting spirit, go out and give it all for your tribe!
On the other hand we do this for the love of swimrun. At the end of the battle we will all have a big (virtual) hug and maybe even make some new friends!
This challenge isn’t an exact science. It is not 100% fair. But if we all follow the rules there will be a worthy winner at the end. There will also be many swimrunners with a boosted swimrun experience, nature experiences and possibly even fitness level! And you were all participating in a Swimrun Challenge on a Global level. That alone gives bragging rights!
THE RULES
The first rule about THE BIG BATTLE is ALWAYS talk about THE BIG BATTLE.
We want the other Teams to know what you’re doing. We want the world to know what you’re doing!
Please always #THEBIGBATTLE and #SWIMRUN. Add #SeaShepherd where you see fit.
Please always @envolswimrun and any other that you think should repost you! (or be made aware of your awesome swimrun).
The rules are pretty simple and made for everybody to swimrun:
- An activity counts as a swimrun if it consists of at least two runs and two swims in the same activity. Minimum 15 min or 2 km.
- Maximum two activities per day.
- Register your swimrun within a week on the form, preferably within 24 h. Include a link to your Strava, Garmin, Polar, Suunto etc. account.
If you do not have a Gps watch there are a couple of things you can do:
- Swimrun with a friend who does! Just attach the link to her/his activity.
- Check the distance on Google Maps.
- Send a photo of yourself in swimrun gear, before or after.
- Don’t lie (bad Karma will make you break your pull buoy in the next race)
In general we want to say this. Play hard. Play fair. We trust you.
POINT SYSTEM
- The leaderboard will be update daily, that’s the reason why it is important that you upload your activity as soon as you are done.
- 1 activity will give 10 points to your team.
- Every kilometre will give 1 point between 2 and 9km activity,
- Every kilometre will give 1.25 points between 10 and 19km activity,
- Every kilometre will give 1.5 points between 20 and 29km activity,
- Every kilometre will give 1.75 points between 30 and 39km activity,
- Every kilometre will give 2 points between 40 and 49km activity,
- Every kilometre will give 2.25 points between 50 and 59km activity,
- Every kilometre will give 2.5 points between 60 and 69km activity,
- …
THE CAUSE
€2 of your registration fee goes to the Sea Shepherd. THE BIG BATTLE marks the beginning of a partnership between Envol Swimrun and the Sea Shepherd and we will help them in whatever ways we can to shine the spotlight on the fact that we are killing the oceans. Which is a very, very stupid thing to do. If the ocean dies – so do we. This swimrun battle is for fun, the battle for the ocean is for real.
