One of the most common questions in interviews about swimrun is “how do you think swimrun will develop in the future?” One of the most common answers is “there will be new formats”. Well, the future is already happening!

Most of us are aware of the Supersprint and Pursuit start of EX Swimrun in Stockholm. In the south of Sweden you find the 1852 swimrun with a rather interesting elimination concept!

Liverpool Swimrun (May 18) is another race in the Envol Endorsed race circle that has fun elimination race with a Backyard flavour!
“This is a siwmrun knockout event, with a potential total of 15km (run: 12km; swim 3km). Perfect for all swimrun abilities, all taking place at Princes Dock, Liverpool.”

The lap is 2.5km (total run: 2km; total swim: 500m)

  • Run: 700m
  • Swim: 200m
  • Run: 900m
  • Swim: 300m
  • Run: 400m

You will potentially complete 6 laps.

The cut off time for each lap, and the cumulative run + swim distances & time:

  • Lap 125 min
  • Lap 2: 23 min
  • Lap 3: 21 min
  • Lap 4: 19 min
  • Lap 5: 17 min
  • Lap 6: Now it is an all out race!

If you are not finished within the lap time you will stand down at the end of that lap. If you finished ahead of time then you can rest for the remaining time of that lap.

Now, doesn’t that sound like fun!
